Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, the mastermind behind PUBG, is back with a brand-new survival experience, Prologue: Go Wayback!

It’s currently in closed beta, and here’s how you can sign up now, including details about the schedule and system requirements.

How to get Prologue: Go Wayback! closed beta access

If you’re eager to try Prologue: Go Wayback! before its official release, follow these steps to sign up for the closed beta:

1. Join the official Discord server – Head over to PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions’ Discord server and accept the invite.
2. Navigate to the sign-up channel – Once inside, find the #playtest-signup channel.
3. Choose your platform – You’ll see two options: Signup – Steam and Signup – Epic. Pick the one you prefer.
4. Accept the Terms of Service – Click the green button to agree to the beta’s terms.
5. Receive and redeem your key – You’ll get a beta key via Discord.
   • Steam users: Redeem the 15-character code in the “Activate a Product” section.
   • Epic Games users: Go to your Account tab and enter the provided key.

Since beta access is limited, act fast before slots fill up.

Prologue: Go Wayback! playtest schedule

Here’s the schedule of the first Prologue: Go Wayback! closed beta:

• Start date: Wednesday, May 7, at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET
• End date: Tuesday, May 14

The developers have also confirmed a second playtest in June, though exact dates haven’t been announced yet.

What type of game is Prologue: Go Wayback?

Prologue: Go Wayback! is a hardcore single-player survival game where every decision impacts your fate. Think Rust meets The Long Dark, but with a completely procedurally generated world. Key features include:

• Dynamic open world – Weather shifts suddenly, forcing you to adapt to storms, freezing temps, and other environmental threats.
• Classic survival mechanics – Scavenge for food, build shelter, manage resources, and stay alert for danger.
• Endless replayability – Procedural generation means no two playthroughs are the same.
