The initial step to building a research building in Frostpunk 2 is to expand a Housing District. While you can place a building of your choice in one of the many districts, for Housing Districts, that is not the case.

It is very easy to expand a Housing District; simply follow the steps mentioned below so that you can easily expand a Housing District:

• Select the Housing District, so its information window appears.
• Now select the arrow icon, which is at the bottom of the pop-up window.
• After locating the arrow icon, you need to click on the three tiles that are adjacent to the Housing District. You might need to Frostbreak their Housing District if the three tiles are missing.
• Select the tickmark that appears.

Building a Research Institute in Frostpunk 2

Once you have successfully expanded the Housing District, you should follow these steps to build a research institute in the game.

• Select the Building circle icon, which is located at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
• After selecting the circle icon, you would need to select the Housing tab, which is located at the bottom of the display, and then click on the Research Institute.
• Finally, select the throbbing icon in the expanded Housing District.

Once the Research Institute is built, the building will appear at the top of the Housing District’s information tab.
