Combat Shotgun

All Slayers’ first weapon is this trusty Combat Shotgun, which, when fully upgraded, can carry you well in the late game.

You can make sure you have a good supply of armor pickups by combining Smelt and Flare-Up upgrades, which will let you focus on slaying the enemies rather than running away.

Shredder

Shredder is an early-game weapon that is available to you at the start. This weapon has a huge magazine capacity with a high fire rate, making it a perfect early-game weapon.

The upgrades for this weapon work perfectly with Shield Saw, boosting the combat efficiency. With the weapon upgrades, you will be able to deal pincushion or ricochet damage after you successfully hit an elite enemy with a Shield throw.

Shield Saw

Mostly used for defense, the Shield Saw is one of the best weapons in Doom: The Dark Ages.

The weapon’s unique interaction with different enemy shield types when thrown adds an extra turn of combat on top of dealing secondary damages to foes by pincushion, Ricochet, and Rupture weapon upgrades.

Flail

Flail is an excellent melee weapon, which is unlockable, and it’s extremely useful throughout the game. This melee is probably one of the best weapons in the game due to its strong armor-shredding skill.

In the later part of the game, elite enemies usually have strong shields, so hitting them with Flail over other weapons strips them of armor, making it easier for you to take them down. This melee can also apply Burn effects on enemies with newer upgrades.

Super Shotgun

The Super Shotgun has a very short range compared to most of the other weapons, but it packs a serious punch. If upgraded properly in the late game, you can take out several enemies with a shot who were tanking some serious hits from other weapons.

Running this weapon as a secondary weapon has its perks, of swapping to it and one-shotting your foes. But overall, the Combat shotgun makes more sense.

Impaler

Impaler is a unique weapon; you will either enjoy it or you’re never gonna touch it. When paired with an upgraded version of Flail, this weapon’s potential to create Chaos among the demons is unparalleled.

To get the most out of Impaler, you need to start hitting headshots and be excellent at parrying; both of these skills become easier once you equip the weapons’ Chronospike upgrade.

Ballistic Force Crossbow

In terms of damage output, Ballistic Force Crossbow (BFC) is the strongest weapon in Doom: The Dark Ages. This weapon can kill entire waves of enemies with a single shot.

This weapon gets unlocked in the later stages of the game. The reason for keeping this weapon in the A-Tier is due to its usage and ammo limits. First of all, the weapon can hold only three arrows at once, which is very few, and when it comes to ammo, well, it’s rarer than diamonds.

When you are using this weapon, you can’t even use the shield, so it’s either you kill your foes or get ready to face the strong waves of demons.

Dreadmace

This is the strongest melee weapon in Doom: The Dark Ages, and it can two-shot even the strongest foes in the game. However, this melee only has a single charge, so you can’t smash it unless there are melee recharges nearby.

Although this weapon unlocks in the later stages of the game, it is for sure one of the strongest weapons in the game.

Cycler

Cycler is a fun weapon in Doom: The Dark Ages. This weapon has a superior fire rate and can shoot plasma bolts that can take down plasma shields. This gun is ideal for taking down big enemies, but the real fun begins when you complete upgrading this weapon.

Once the weapon has been fully upgraded, you will be able to apply Shock effects on your foes and trigger arc lightning from the defeated enemies, dealing chain lightning reactions. This weapon, in its upgraded state, makes it easy to take down elite enemies without any problem.

Rocket Launcher

Another late-game weapon, but it can deal an enormous amount of AoE damage at range, making this weapon ideal for taking out elite enemies from a distance.

However, this weapon can cause friendly damage if used on targets too close to you. Although with the Vampirism mod, you can relax a bit, as this mod lets you replenish health instead of taking damage.

Pulverizer

Probably the best gun in-game to hit large groups of enemies at once. This weapon can fire a wide arc, which can be increased with upgrades, allowing you to make your own way through the waves of enemies.

Pulverizer is the only weapon that shoots with a spread pattern. Although weapons like grenades and Rocket launchers can clear out multiple foes at once, the low rate of fire and self-damage make this weapon less appealing compared to the Pulverizer.

Chainshot

This weapon hits hard, stripping down armors, but it’s hard to use against enemies who have quick movement speed. They can easily dodge the incoming bullets, and it’s best to use this weapon when it’s fully upgraded.

There are better options to use over Chainshot at the early stage of the game.

Accelerator

This one is the better Plasma weapon over the other two due to its ability to generate its own ammo via the Heatblast upgrade. Places with waves of enemies are a good place to try this weapon by building up charge and Supercharge, as it is a highly effective way to clear your way of demons.

And by any chance, if you run out of ammo, the Heatblast should get the ammo back up within a short period.

Ravager

This weapon is an upgraded version of the Pulverizer. However, its narrow coverage makes it less reliable when dealing with crowd control.

The Vampirism upgrade adds a nice touch as it buffs your chance of survival when dealing with crowd control.

Power Gauntlet

This is the very first melee weapon that you get in the game. There is nothing wrong with the weapon, but it will easily get outclassed once you unlock the Flail and the Dreadmace.

Grenade Launcher

The Grenade Launcher won’t make much impact unless you hit your enemies directly. The upgrades don’t do much other than spawn extra grenades, which makes it kinda effective at clearing out groups of enemies.

Now you have a good idea of which weapons to use in Doom: The Dark Ages while you clear out the waves of demons, so how about you check Doom: The Dark Ages’ minimum and recommended system requirements?
